What is a Brow Lift?
Sometimes known as a forehead lift or forehead rejuvenation, a brow lift is a type of cosmetic procedure to raise the brows and make the face appear younger and wrinkle free. Lines across the forehead are one of the biggest signs of ageing with frown lines getting more noticeable as we grow older and the skin becomes less elastic. One of the best ways to reduce wrinkles is through cosmetic surgery, with facelift procedures becoming increasingly popular in the UK.
As we age, the eyebrows can sag down over time resulting from the skin losing elasticity. Having brows that are at a lower position can cause a person to look angry, sad or tired. Once the brows have lowered, the best way to remedy the effects is by getting a brow lift, which will return the brows to their natural position and smooth the skin of the forehead.
With a brow lift, the client is given anaesthetic before an incision is made along the top of the head. The skin is then tightened before the incision is closed, resulting in a smoother and more youthful looking face that’s free from excessive wrinkles and lines.
Types of Brow Lift
There are four main types of brow lift. All achieve similar results and the method that’s chosen will depend on the patient type and their expectations for the procedure.
- Endoscopic brow lift – Here, several incisions are made within the hairline, and a small camera attached to a thin tube is used to move the muscles under the forehead and correct any lines and wrinkles.
- Coronal brow lift – A Coronal lift uses an incision along the top of the head from ear to ear. The forehead skin can then be lifted, and any scar is hidden within the hair.
- Hairline brow lift – For people with a high hairline, a hairline brow lift affects the skin of the forehead without pulling the hairline back. An incision is made between the top of the head and the hairline to perform this lift.
- Thread brow lift – a permanent thread containing anchors is inserted under the forehead to pull the forehead and brows upwards. The thread is anchored into the scalp. This is a non-surgical procedure with little downtime.
