Acne

Acne is the result of hair follicles (tiny holes in the skin) becoming blocked. Too much of an oil substance called ‘sebum’ is then produced and this mixes with dead skin – creating whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples. While usually associated with teenagers, acne affects people of every age. Acne is one of the most common and distressing skin conditions to suffer from, and in some cases can cause scaring.

At Luxe Skin, Dr Q can offer chemical skin peel treatments to help with reducing the appearance of acne, as well as helping with acne scaring.

Treatment

The primary treatment for issues with acne are chemical skin peels.

Chemical Skin Peels

A light chemical skin peel can be a superb way to treat mild to severe cases of acne – and can be provided to any part of the face where acne is an issue.

There are four kinds of chemical skin peels, though all work by ‘exfoliating’, not truly peeling, the skin. A combination of dilute acids allows for dead skin cells (as well as excess oil) to be shed from the face.

Treatment for Acne

A chemical peel will improve not only the texture of the skin, but its tone as well, helping to smooth it out – while also helping to lessen the appearance of spots.

Multiple superficial peel treatments can be used to help improve cases of acne alongside other treatments.

Dermamelan Peel

Dermamelan peels are superb for handling the appearance of acne. A Dermamelan treatment works by removing melanin patches on the skin as well as paralysing the production of melanin; it does not stop the production of melanin (so there’s no danger of white spots or patches) but rather temporarily prevents it – stopping the dark patches from being formed. A Dermamelan peel has the benefits of giving the skin a far brighter, firmer appearance.
