Skin Pigmentation

Pigmentation usually refers to brown pigmentation or melanin, which often occurs in our skin as we begin to age. Hyperpigmentation is a condition in which patches of skin become much darker in colour than the surrounding skin – often resulting from age. These age (also called ‘liver’) spots usually result from sun damage. In some cases, it can result from hormonal changes, such as during pregnancy. Acne can also cause dark spots, while freckles and other conditions are genetic. These genetic spots can become much darker.

At Luxe Skin, our professional physician Dr Q can provide effective treatment to handle Skin Pigmentation issues.

Dermamelan

Dermamelan treatment is highly effective for reducing the appearance of sun and age spots, freckles, blotchiness, and brown or dark patches resulting from pregnancy or medication. Dermamelan works using a skin peel, removing, and reducing melanin – the cells which cause this dark pigmentation issue. Because Dermamelan does not stop the production or cause it to disappear but paralyses it – ensuring there’s no danger of white spots or blemishes appearing. It ensures an improvement in the complexion of the skin in the long term.

Treatment for Skin Pigmentation

Light Chemical Peel

A chemical peel involves the use of a dilute acid to remove the outer layer of skin, which makes it fantastic for dealing with tiny wrinkles, acne, dry skin, and an uneven skin tone – such as pigmentation or hyperpigmentation issues. Light chemical peels, also described as ‘superficial’ skin peels, are fantastic because they take only a small amount of time to be applied and have a relatively short rest time.

Chemical peels are fantastic because they help to purify and oxygenate skin. They can do wonders in improving the texture and overall tone and softening the damage of sunspots – including hyperpigmentation and similar conditions like melasma.

Medium Chemical Peel

A medium chemical peel ‘peels’ down to a deeper layer of the skin, removing the epidermis and renewing it. This is a far more extensive treatment but by far the most effective for handling pigmentation issues, and in most cases the strength of the solution should handle the issue in a single session though more serious cases may require multiple sessions.
